Be visible in traffic, but don't blind others

Have you purchased a good bike light, only to receive criticism that you are blinding oncoming traffic? There you are, trying to do the right thing! Luckily, it’s very easy to solve.

So, be visible in traffic, but don’t blind others.

Adjusting your lighting

If your lighting is set too high, you blind oncoming traffic. But if you angle the beam too sharply downward, you have insufficient visibility yourself. Adjusting your lighting correctly is very simple:

  1. A good light has a clear separation between the upper, weaker light that ensures you are seen, and the brighter, lower light that provides good visibility. This is called the ‘cut-off’.
  2. The focus of the beam shines 5 to 10 meters ahead of you on the road, so you look forward and not just down in front of your front wheel.

USB rechargeable lights

The amount of light that shines on the road is expressed in lux. The AXA Dwn USB headlight comes in 4 variants: 30, 50, 70, and 100 lux.

The headlights have different modes: from full power to a battery-saving mode. AXA bike lights are Dutch Design and resistant to rain and condensation.

Dynamo and E-bike lighting

If you need lighting for your E-bike or bike with a dynamo, you don’t need USB lighting but the AXA Nxt. There are 4 brightness levels: 30, 45, 60, and 80 lux.

The dynamo versions have steady light: the light stays on for 4 minutes when you are stationary. The 30 lux E-bike version is suitable for a 6-48V battery, while the other E-bike versions are suitable for a 6-12V battery.
